Parque Nacional de Brasília.
This park is located 8 km outside the city limits and is an ecological reserve. It is popular for picnics amongst the woodlands, with natural springs, swimming pools and baths. There's an orchid house containing rare species. There are endangered animals here too, including maned wolves, banded anteaters, huge Armadillos, and deer.
Chapada dos Veadeiros:
Alto Paraiso de Goiás is a small town and doorway to this beautiful National Park.
It is located in the highest area of the country's Central West, just over 220 km north of Brasilia. Its high waterfalls, natural swimming pools, dramatic cliffs and oasis-like stands of wine-palms have caused it to become a popular destination for eco-tourists.
The park's animal life includes maned wolves, banded anteaters, giant armadillos, capybaras, tapirs, rheas, toucans and vultures. Most people stay at the former crystal-mining hamlet of São Jorge nearby, where there is a walking trail to Vale da Luna (Valley of the Moon).
Pirenopolis:
Surrounded by lush vegetation and 26 waterfalls and 168 km from Brasilia, this small town has many tourist attractions. One is Babilonia Farm, 26 km from the center, where there is an old plantation house and an 18th century sugar mill. Some of the most visited spots are the mother church (built between 1728 and 1732); the Our Lady of Bonfim Church (built in 1750); Our Lady of Carmo Church which was transformed into a Sacred Arts Museum with its images from Portugal; the Pirenopolis Theater (built in 1899); and the house of Rua Direita (built in 1852). The central peak of the Pireneus Mountains, 18 km from the city, has a panoramic view of the region. On the peak is a small chapel.
Itiquira:
With a height of 168 m, this is one of the tallest free falls of water in Brazil. It is located in the Goias town of Formosa, 110 km from Brasilia. After the main drop, the river forms a sequence of smaller waterfalls and rapids with pools.
It is found in rough terrain covered by a dense forest, with several mineral springs and good infrastructure.
Corumbá:
The Corumbá River falls over a wall of rock 50 m high forming a huge pool at the bottom, as well as rapids, showers and pools of crystal-clear water, with small, white sand beaches. In the forest near the wall of rock, live capuchin monkeys. It is located 150 km from Brasilia near the city of Corumbá, Goiás.
Formosa Lake:
The crystal-clear waters of this lake are renewed by underground water. It is almost 18 km long and 500 m wide, with an average depth of 10 m and is located between 2 hills. There are small beaches and besides bathing it is also a good place for water sports. It is 65 km from Brasilia.
São Domingos' Caves:
São Domingo is a small town in the state of Goiás. It is located about 400 km from Brasilia. This area is known for its fantastic and diversified concentration of caverns and waterfalls. The natural beauty is associated to an exotic fauna, stalagmites of up to 14 meters high and pearls made of dripping over the rocks.
