The Cristalino lodge has a Private Reserve with more than 29,652 acres (46 square miles), an area two times larger than Manhattan island. This pristine forest reserve is home to a large variety of habitats and natural communities, allowing our guests to see wildlife in its natural state of being.
How to get there
Your arrival is made through the city of Alta Floresta, in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. There are daily flights and coach lines from Cuiaba - the state capital - to Alta Floresta.
The lodge is only accessible by boat. After arrival in Alta Floresta, there will be a 1 ½ hour transfer by car and a ½ hour boat ride.
Adctivities and Programs
The lodge is a destination for nature lovers of all types, offering activities for people who want to see wildlife in its natural habitat. There are five types of programs offered by The lodge.
Itinerary:
DAY 1.Arrival in Alta Floresta, pick up and transfer to Cristalino Jungle Lodge. Upon arrival, there will be an introduction to the lodge and to your accommodations. Library and maps are available.
DAY 2. In the morning, hike towards the 50 meter Canopy Tower where you will be able to see the forest from above the canopy. Monkeys, macaws and several species of birds can be found here. Then, walk the Ficus Trail, where a giant Ficus Tree is found. In the afternoon, walk the Taboca Trail in an area with seasonally flooded forest, where many monkeys can be found.
DAY 3. In the morning, hike towards the Saleiro House - a rustic tree house located in the middle of the forest reserve. The soil here is naturally rich in minerals, and is often visited by large forest mammals such as the South american Tapir (Tapirus terrestris), Collared Peccary (Pecari tajacu), White-lipped Peccary (Tayassu pecari),the Giant Anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactylaand) and the Southern Tamandua (Tamandua tetradactyla). By the afternoon, boat trip up river and hike the remarkable Brazil Nut Trail in a region with enormous Brazil Nut Trees. On the way back it is possible to canoe or boat ride, watching the afternoon as you go down river.
DAY 4. Boat trip in the morning and hike the "Sierra Trail": a site with a low, drier and deciduous type of forest. This trail has beautiful viewpoints since it is located in a hilly landscape. Orchids are often found in this area. In the afternoon hike in the Teles Pires island, a place where parakeets, parrots, macaws and nesting wood storks can be seen. Sunset at this place is great for photography.
DAY 5. Light hike in the Tapiri Trail, where the White-whiskered-spider-monkey (Atelis marginatus), symbol of Cristalino State Park, can be seen. Transfer to Alta Floresta. Lunch and departure to Cuiaba.

Scheduled activities are always subject to change due to water levels and weather conditions.
USEFUL NOTES :
Travel to Amazon and Pantanal, it is recommended that people bring with them common drugs as well as antihistamines, insect repellents, sun protectors, sun glasses, camera, batteries, long trousers, long sleeves T shirts, swimming suits, cotton socks, hat, tennis shoes/ boots, sandals, light clothes and jogging suits or fleeces. To Pantanal we also recommend binoculars.
The Brazilian National Agency for Sanitary Vigilance recommends Yellow fever vaccination for people who travel in areas endemic to Brazil: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Distrito Federal (Brasilia), Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Rondínia, Roraima and Tocantins.
There is no National or Reserva tax to pay in Amazon or Pantanal.
For vegetarian food the additional cost, it will depend of the Lodge so please ask the requirement.
*There are two different pick up to Cristalino: 09h00 and 15h00. Before go to Cristalino you go from the airport to Alta Floresta to wait for the next transfer to Cristalino. So your domestic flight should arrive in the morning.
