Attractions Brasilia - Attractions region Brasilia

In the center of Brazilian's territory is one of the most original cities of the world, Brasilia. It was originally constructed between 1956 and 1960 under the leadership of President Juscelino Kubitschek, with a special purpose of being the federal capital of Brazil and the seat of government. It's created by the architect Lúcio Costa and inaugurated in 1960.

The city plan is designed in the shape of a giant bird or airplane, with various zones designated for each function. Brasilia as seen from the airThe "body" is called the Eixo Monumental and this large avenue houses Praça dos Três Poderes (Três Poderes Public Square), Esplanada dos Ministérios, the Cathedral, museums and monuments.
The wings shaft, formed by several parallel roads, houses residency, with rows and rows of medium-rise apartment blocks and commerce and services sectors. The intersection is the commercial and cultural hub, with stores, hotels, and the cathedral.

The city was only designed to be populated by half of a million people, but it has grown to be home to more than 4 times this amount. Situated near the center of the country, Brasilia has a temperate climate and is a very modern city compared to other Brazilian cities.
