Bosque Rodrigo Alves

About half an hour by bus from Ver o Peso market, these botanical gardens are a small reserve of relatively virgin plant life. There's also a well-stocked lake and mini-zoo, and archeological exhibits from the region are on display.


Parrots Island

This is an island near Belém where the parrots choose to spend the nights. There are boat rides very early in the morning around the time they begin to fly away.


Icoaracy

This is a small village located 25 km from Belém. It is known as the biggest ceramic center in Brazil. Here you will be able to see how the ceramic handicraft is made. You will find unique Marajoara and Tapajonic ceramics here. There are also wonderful restaurants within the village.


Mosqueiro Island

Mosqueiro Island is located 80 km from Belém and is connected to the continent by "Sebastião de Oliveira" Bridge. Mosqueiro also presents marks of Belém's history through architecture based in old chalets that prevail on the shore.

The island has fabulous restaurants, bars and hotels. The island is located on the east cost of Pará River and contains some of the most beautiful river beaches of Belém.


Ilha de Marajo

This is a large island located at a place where many rivers come together. It is considered an ecological preserve with unspoiled beaches, many varieties of different flora and fauna, and lots of wildlife, including water buffalo. It is 4 hours from Belém by boat and 25 minutes by plane.
